Running out the door, but big thank you - I have been down this road, I am wondering if I'm right though as it may be just a surname spelling issue - have spoken to locals in Timahoe (Fossy), they seem to be RC and our family stories don't click with that as there was a split later after Leslie (John died)???
Thanks again...
L.

Kennan family in 1911 census- Eliza says married 14 years with 6 children (all living) from this marriage- Christopher 12, Lizzie 10, Michael 8, Thomas 7, William 4, Joseph 2
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Wicklow/Bray_No__2/Dock_Terrace/891641

However, births I found earlier-
Joseph (1897)
Christopher (1899)
Michael Joseph (1902)
Thomas (1904)
William (1905)
Joseph Patrick (1908)

Added- found Elizabeth born May 1900- father Christopher a soldier in South Africa (Boer War)- mother's maiden name down as Keating-

I checked for the last three girls in 1901 and 1911, vital records, etc. but no luck finding them. At the time I didn't know mother had remarried and moved away from Athy.

Not long back, checked a few details - Willis Lewis reference to Liverpool works as I had a reference to John Leslie in TCD and a Baptism in Liverpool to Dr. John Gustave Connor & Marie Connor..
Reading off the page there is a Mills & Bloom novel in the making - keep seeing a Mary Keenan present at Births and Deaths, which I take it to be Mother/Sister of Christopher. Again family reports were that the Montgomery o'Connors were not at all pleased with Eliza taking the soup and shacking up with Christopher - a mere farm hand!! This all goes with pleas for support etc..
Will seek Elizabeth Keitley / Keightley in Dublin - I'm sure I came across at least one around Merrion square or similar..
Thanks to all above, you have no idea how many nights I have spent dredging the internet for connection - would kill for an image of Leslie or Elizabeth...
Thanks again.
L.

Keenan's quite a common name so Mary Keenan may not be related to Christopher- perhaps comparing addresses might find a connection.

I've only ever hear of 'taking the soup' in relation to Irish Catholics renouncing their faith and turning Protestant. There is a possibility that Elizabeth Keightley was originally Catholic.

True re Keenan, so perhaps jumping the gun - as taking the soup was a lazy use on my part..

Possibility
In the Census Elizabeth says born Dublin, her age doesn't add up from one census to the other so born in the 1860s or 70s, on her marriage to Christopher her father is John a painter.

There is a John Keatley a painter in Dublin father of Elizabeth 1866 and John 1870, they are RC.
