Good Morning,
Gadget I wonder if you would link me to the previous post regarding Margaret I for the life or me can't find it.
Margaret had a son in 1917 on his birth cert. she registered his birth no father named she was an enveloper folder.
Her son married in 1943 and on that and his death cert. no father mentioned just mother Margaret Watson or Bishop
I think this is mystery that is never going to be solved I have been trying to find this marriage for almost twenty years.
Thank you all for your input if it is ever solved I will let you know.

Thanks again

A while ago - I meant earlier in the day rather than a long time ago  ;D

I read your query and started delving but couldn't find a marriage that fitted and went off and did something else.

PS - I often have a few queries on the go!

I still think city directories might be a good place to search, if you can access them, suzilad. You could start in 1941 and go backwards, searching under both surnames. Her son (if he lived with her) might have been listed with her once he got to a certain age.

Regards,
Josephine

P.S. If she was cohabiting with anyone, he'd be listed there, too.
England: Barnett; Beaumont; Christy; George; Holland; Parker; Pope; Salisbury
Scotland: Currie; Curror; Dobson; Muir; Oliver; Pryde; Turnbull; Wilson
Ireland: Carson; Colbert; Coy; Craig; McGlinchey; Riley; Rooney; Trotter; Waters/Watters

Ah thank you Gadget problem solved.

On the 1941 marriage Margaret is living at 20 Edina Place on her son's birth certificate she was living at 8 Edina Street.
I will have to wait till I can go back to NRH to look at these certs. Monica could be a possible connection.
I know that her son was brought up by grandparents .He  married  and had two sons one of them being married to my sister .

Thanks

Monica  :)

Might be a bit late now, Monica, just come back ~

The 1941 marriage would have given Margaret's residence (and occupation) at the time. I wonder if there are city directories for that period that could be searched for Margaret Watson or Cook?

Regards,
Josephine

Margaret's residence was 20 Edina Place, Edinburgh. She is recorded as a Restaurant Waitress.
