Edina Place was on/off Easter Road? PO Directory for 1940-1 https://archive.org/stream/postofficeedin194041edin#page/746/mode/2up

There is VR entry on SP for both 1930 and 1935 which has:

Mrs Margaret COOK - Tenant Occupier
HOUSE 373 EASTER ROAD LEITH
EDINBURGH
1930

VR010000625-

Monica

ADDED: There are no additional details on the VRs for those two years to help further.

The 1930 and 35 VRs look very interesting, Monica. It suggests that Margaret was Head of Household by then.

Found a Herbert Cook living same address in 1925

A  Mrs Margaret Dalziel was living at 20 Edina Place in 1935 and no sign of a Margaret Watson or Cook there. It was multi-occupied.

Think that 1940 birth cert is needed.

suzilad, one more to check next time you are at NRH!

Have you ever used the mother's maiden name option for a birth search entry post 1929? I understand from Forfarian that this can be done from around this year but only in person at one of the main centres.
