Intriguing or what?  :-\

John Plant Spooner marries Emily Austin (nee Millward) 30 December 1895.

There is another marriage for John Plant Spooner in 1904 (StaffordshireBMD) and the bride's name is Eliza Austin - it's a civil marriage so the certificate would have to be purchased.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I think it is perhaps coincidence.  1911 shows a John Spooner with wife Eliza, married for 7 years.  Occupation fits but age doesn't as 1895 marriage is aged 37, and this one 1911 aged 40.

Sorry for the confusion.  :'(

Hi could someone do a census look up for a

Arthur Spooner born Stoke On Trent in 1896 97.

He was married to a Elsie Roberts in 1910

Bit confused but keep reading it will sink in. In time. Thanks

Hi carol46 - from the info. posted your Arthur Spooner who married Elsie Roberts in 1910
his name is Arthur Austin Spooner

from BumbleB
Quote
1910 Civil Marriage (Stoke)
SPOONER   Arthur Austin
ROBERTS   Elsie

trish110 found Arthur on these censuses

Quote
Appears to be Emma and Daug Eliza in
1881 Census;

Charles Coxon, 50, Head, Widr, Waggoner, born Marston
Sarah Coxon, 16, Daug
Elizabeth Coxon, 10, Daug
Emma Austin, 28, Boarder, Mar, Potters Handler, born Hanley
Eliza Austin, 3, Boarder, born Fenton

1891c
John Lpoown, 35, Head, Mar, Bricklayer, born Longton
Emma Lpoown, 38, Wife, Mar, born Smallthorne
Eliza Lpoown, 13, Daug, General Servant, born Fenton
Elizabeth Lpoown, 6, Daug, born Penkhull
Arthur Auski Lpoown, 2, Son, born Dresden*****

1901 we have;
John Spooner, 44, Head, Mar, Bricklayer, born Longton
Emma Spooner, 48, Wife, Mar
Arthur Austin, 11, Stepson, born Dresden
Albert Austin, 9, Stepson

BumbleB added this census

Quote
1911 entry for Arthur and Elsie
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XW7D-K8X

Dundee added this
Quote
I think Emma may have been Emma MIL(L)WARD married to Thomas AUSTIN in 1872.

Eliza registered Stoke on Trent, Albert and Arthur registered Stone.

I don't see how Albert is not John SPOONER's son when he and Emma were together in 1891.

Perhaps they met just before the census and Emma was already pregnant.

Albert's birth was registered in the Dec quarter

GRO indexes give these AUSTIN birth entries mmn Milward/Millward
Eliza 1877, Arthur 1888, Albert 1891

Is this a possibility for the marriage of John Spooner to Emily   :-\ :-\

Transcription only from England & Wales Marriages, 1538-1988

30 Dec 1895    Oulton (near Stone), Staffordshire
John Plant SPOONER age 37 father John
Emily AUSTIN age 42 father Richard MILLWOOD

BumbleB found the details of their marriage

Quote
JPS is a bachelor Bricklayer, aged 37, father John also a Bricklayer.
Emily Austin (x) is 42 and a widow.
Father is Richard Millwood, a Potter.

Not a surname at all (as far as I know) - this was a mistranscription of the surname Spooner  ::)

Thanks all for helping explain and adding to what I had found.

The confusion is that there are 2 John Spooner born c 1855+/- 3 years in Staffs both married to a Emma.

And yes the name is Spooner on image of the Census I posted and badly mistranscribed on Anc as  Lpoown

Anyhow thanks to Ladyhawke/BumbleB/Dundee for the extra info on sorting out the info on Arthur Austin Spooner :)

As posted by BumbleB;

The marriage entry image, available via FindMyPast, confirms the information.  JPS is a bachelor Bricklayer** aged 37, father John also a Bricklayer***.  Emily Austin (x) is 42 and a widow.  Father is Richard Millwood, a Potter.

This may be John in 1871 Census, age a little out though.

1871 Census
Hardinge St,
Fenton, Staffordshire
John Spooner, 56, Head, Widr, Bricklayer, born Caverswall
John Spooner, 11, Son, Scholar, born Longton

Cant find them 1861
