Where was Fanno and Queensmanour ?
« on: Wednesday 14 March 18 19:59 GMT (UK) »
I have an interest in the Adam surname of Angus. There is a long history of the name in Angus going back many centuries and the Adam surname was associated with land ownership of the above two named areas. This isn't really specific to my own family research as I can't get further back than the 1700s for certainty. Just for my own historical interests of the area.

I'd never heard of these estates before so the names must've fallen out of use. From what I can gather they were around Forfar or Rescobie.

I've had a look on NLS maps and can't find anything similar. If anyone has any more knowledge about the history of Angus I'd be grateful.

Many thanks!

Liv.

Many thanks to you both.

Seems like it would be close to where Reswallie is today.

Edit: That looks like it could be it Gadget. Thanks!

Haven't found Queensmanour yet - have looked over the Rescobie OS map. It might be worth having a look at the older maps.

Add-  older map but still no Queensmanour

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
