Many thanks for your offer. Could you please check to see if there is any more info on this Marriage:

Name:   Margaret Nisbet
Gender:   Female
Marriage Date:   6 Feb 1860
Marriage Place:   Saint John,Preston,Lancashire,England
Spouse:   Thomas Wilson.

I am particularly interested in their Father's names and Occupations, and the names of any Witnesses.

Also, the Baptismal details for their child:
Name:   William James Wilson
Registration Year:   1860
Registration Quarter:   Jul-Aug-Sep
Registration district:   Preston
Inferred County:   Lancashire
Volume:   8e

I'm interested in Thomas Wilson's Occupation on the Baptismal Entry.

Romilly.

Many thanks jonw, - I was looking on FindMyPast and Ancestry, neither of which have that image!

There is just a (slim) chance that the William James Wilson, Born Preston 1860, might be my elusive Grandfather of the same name, who I have never been able to find before his Marriage in Swansea in 1893.

Interesting that Thomas Wilson is a Soldier in 1860, although he was discharged from the 66th Regt of Foot for absence without leave in 1856. But I suppose that he could have joined up again?

Romilly.

Hi Jonw65, firstly apologies if I'm being a bit thick! When I use Family Search I can find the details of records but it states no image available; if I use your link I can view the PR entry??

Hi DiLambo,

As Jon says, you need to be 'Logged in' on Family Search to view the images. It's a free Site, but you have to create an account on there. I've done that now, and it is an interesting Site.

Apologies for requesting Look-ups for info that was on there, - but I didn't realise it was!

The man that I'm looking for is my late Grandfather, William James Wilson (1860 - 1937) who says on the 1901 and 1911 Censuses that he was Born in 'Manchester, Lancs'. I've been unable to find him there, and so have widened the search to the rest of Lancashire. Until the 1911 Census became available, I thought he was the W.J. Wilson Born in Kirkby Ireleth, Lancs, but that one is still at home and single on that Census.

Apologies, Romilly.
