That's no problem Romilly, I'm planning on going next week as I'm only 20 mins away! I am logged in but cannot see any images unless I follow Jon's link :(

Hi
You find Preston, Lancashire, in the catalogue on FamilySearch
https://www.familysearch.org/catalog/search

Select Church records
Scroll down to Parish registers for St. John's Church, Preston, 1642-1948
Clicking on that reveals
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/122477?availability=Family%20History%20Library

The films with a camera icon, but with no key on top, are available to view at home. The ones with a key can be seen only at a Family History Centre. There may be more than one filming of the same records. Not all films have been digitized.
Then it's find what you want on the film yourself!
John

Hi Di
May I take you up on your kind offer of research at Lancashire Record Office please?

LRO (at Preston) hold a great deal of material relating to the Stanley family, Earls of Derby, who owned land in Cheshire (as well as many other places).
I am interested in records from Macclesfield and Macclesfield Forest in Cheshire.

There are 2 documents I should like to see (well, lots! but these 2 are favourite at the moment  :)).
These are the reference numbers:
DDK/458/26 - 1676 “Four Indentures of Attornment for their several Estates in the Forest of Macclesfield.”. Edward Taylor.
DDK/458/28 - 1676 “Three Indentures of Release of their several Estates and interests in several tenements in Macclesfield Forest.” Edward Bostock.

My guess is there is a box number ‘458’, and ‘26’ and ‘28’ are the numbers of the documents inside it.

I know you can take photographs of documents at Preston. Is this something you would be able to do? and then send them to me via email? I would be happy to pay the photography fee for the day. - I have searched their site, but can’t find how  much they charge - other ROs charge about £5.

Let me know if you think this would be feasible.
Many thanks for the offer.

Hi Goldie
Yes I can certainly take a look and see if I can get hold of them. I will be going next week and will research these boxes if possible. I'm not sure what the fee is for photography but will let you know

Many thanks Di for your work at Preston RO - it was well worth it.  :)
BY the way, a daily photography permit there is 10 pounds, if any is planning a trip.

Hi DiLambo,

Does the offer of looking up records at the LRO still stand?

If so, there is a document there I would be interested in. It is the Will of James Sanders from 13 May 1851. He was a yeoman from Torver and I believe the reference number is W/RW/F/R398A/3. I’m particularly interested in what names are mentioned (if any) as I’ve been struggling to find anything relating to where James might be from.

If you are able to look this up that would be great, but no problems if not  :)

Yes I can certainly have a look. Do you just require a transcript of it?
