John Atkinson/Elizabeth Fletcher
« on: Friday 16 March 18 14:01 GMT (UK) »
I hope someone maybe able to clarify the parents of John Atkinson please.  There are various family trees which show him born about 1806 in Wrelton, N.Yorkshire, son of Robert Atkinson and Elizabeth Rogers. He married Elizabeth Fletcher 7/12/1829 at Middleton by Pickering, and died in 1892.
From the records I have found Robert A. and Elizabeth R. were married in 1796 and had 8 children between 1798 and 1816....the last of whom was called John, born in 1816, unlikely to married age 13 !
The nearest possibility would be Joseph, their 3rd. son, born 9/8/1806 and christened a day later at Middleton by Pickering.
There are two other  'John Atkinsons', one born 6/6/1804, son of John and Mary, a second born 25/4/1807, son of William and Elizabeth.
Can anyone shed any light on the person who married Elizabeth Fletcher in 1829 please ??

1841 - HO107 1260/28 folio 4, page 1 - Wrelton
John - 35 - Ag Lab
Elizabeth - 40
Jane - 10
Hanah - 6
Mary - 4
Dina - 2

It doesn't help that John and Elizabeth don't appear to have had any sons.

The two baptisms for John that you mention - 6/10 June 1804 - son of John and Mary of Wrelton, and 25 April/31 May 1807 son of William and Elizabeth of Wrelton, would appear to be the better options than deciding that Joseph, who was born in 1806, becoming John.   :-\

However, deciding which John to choose is difficult  :o
