Request lookup Anderson
« on: Saturday 17 March 18 04:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi all, for a number of years i have been trying to find more information on Some members in my family tree and had hit the brick wall.

However the other day i found some dates that may be linked to my family and wondered if someone would be so kind as to confirm this.

Originally my family tree started (as far as i had traced) in Edrom, Scotland.

A bit of background.

what i had,

JAMES ANDERSON born about 1773?
ELIZABETH FORD born abt 1777?

Iam not sure when they married but all their children were born around the Blackaddertown area in Edrom between 1798 - 1808.

MY line from them is George who was born in 1805.

Sometime before 1830 (when he married in selkirk) George moved to selkirk.

Now this was the point i was stuck at.

I had previously tried to find out what happened to james and elizabeth when george moved and couldn't find a record of them in either edrom or selkirk.

Then the other week i found the following information and unfortunately i forgot where it was i found the info :(

what information i found.

James Anderson born 1773
died 5 Nov 1871 Selkirk

Elizabeth born 1777
died 5 Oct 1876 Selkirk

I am not sure what cemetery they are buried at in Selkirk.

Hi themonkeymonkey, thank you greatly for the information and the reply, where did you get the information on their daughter Christians death?
I haven't been able to find what happened to most of James and Elizabeth's children.

Isabel 1798 (unknown)
John 1800 (unknown)
Christian 1802 (unknown)
George 1805--------i am from his line so have traced
Mary 1808-1888---i have information she married Thomas Emond George's wife Sarah Emonds brother (They also came to Australia
Margaret 1811 (unknown)

George left for Australia in 1855, his son Alexander seems to have died/disappeared in 1854 and if his parents also died around then i can see one of the reason for them wanting to move?

Thanks again

I got the information from Scotlandspeople, she is the only one that I have found, she married Alexander Paterson (1796-1860) and I believe they had 3 sons and 2 daughters.  If you are on ancestry there seems to be a couple of people doing the same tree.

That's a great find! I was able to find her when i was searching, does it say they married in Selkirk?
And if you mind my asking what does it say about her parents James and Elizabeth? does it say where they lived before or his old profession? (He was a Hynd/hind then a carrier).

I am wondering if she also was in Selkirk like George and another sibling then maybe the whole earlier family moved to the Selkirk region as well?

However i can't seem to find any clues to this.

thanks again :)
