All service records for personnel serving after 1920 are still with the MOD :-\
You won't find anything online.

You can apply for his service record from:
https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records

There is a fee of £30, and you will need to send a copy of his death certificate.

Although the cap and badge and gut feeling says to me Scots Guards, the cap badge could be any one of dozens.  The era is WW2 although you could narrow that down by his age at that time.

Following KGarrad's advice is the only way to go (and you don't need to know his regiment for that).

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

Fear not - as long as you have his date of birth, his death cert and the requisite £30 those good folks at Glasgow will find him, the form requires date of birth and/or service number.

They are wearing Batledress so after 1938.  The peaked caps were a inter-war design and mostly obselete by 1940 but a few regts (Guards, RHA, Corps of Mil Police) retained them

They are names as Gdsm (Guardsman) so are either Scots, Coldstream or Irish Guards.  Coldstrams had the largest cap star so my money is them.

The Tunics are the pre war pattern with covered buttons.  Mid wr they were replaced with exposed button fronts.  I would suggest you can date it from 1938-41.  It looks like a recruit platoon photo in basic training so if you know when he enlisted that will confirm the year.

For clarity - the squad photo was posted purely to support my theory that the original photo may well be of a Scots Guardsman, it is not related to the man posted in the first post.
