A new publication from the Scottish Genealogy Society:
Eddrachillis (Sutherland) Poor Register 1845-1916. The information contained in the records for Poor Registers is nothing short of amazing. Not only does it give full name, age and current address but it also gives place of birth, marital status with husband’s/wife’s name & age, any children (names & ages) and earnings for the household. It also makes little remarks like: “Has a free house and a small lot of land”. Compiled from five volumes held in the Highland Archives, Inverness (Ref: CS/6/6/16-20) by Stuart Farrell, FSA Scot, at £4.00 (plus P&P) this is a bargain!
