Bigamy or is it Trigamy?
« on: Saturday 31 March 18 18:14 BST (UK) »
I've been looking at a certain branch of this dis-organised family and I've now come across a Joseph who seems to be married three times!
Joseph Haszell b.1839 in Ipswich, moves to London and then:

marriage 1:   1863   East London, London, Joseph Haszell to Fanny Taylor but he never lived with her as she stays with her father.

marriage 2:       1866   Shoreditch, London, Ann Huggins to Joseph Haszell

marriage 3:   1868   Chelmsford, Essex, to Deborah Green. I think the census shows he lived with her.

I'm sure its the same Joseph Haszell, could you get divorced so easily then? I am really confused with this one, do I need to order all three certificates. Any advice as ever greatly appreciated.

Marriage 2 -

Joseph married Harriet J Moyle -

Joseph Haszell, Boot Maker
Age - 23
29 Sep 1866, St James, Shoreditch, Hackney
Father - James Haszell, Gentleman Servant
Spouse - Harriot Jane Moyle

Added - This person has a different father than the one above and also he has a different occupation. So it would appear not to be the same man.

So that ties in with the first marriage but not the second.

Three kids with Fanny, one died at birth, David 1866.
Second one doesn't seem right to me.

On the Banns (1868) of Joseph Haszell and Deborah Green he is recorded as a bachelor.
