No wonder I asked for expert advice and opinion.

John and Anne had the illigit son and Catherine who had 2 illigit sons with John's brother Thomas was the sponsor. it's the stuff of novels.

I believe it's Anto Maher not Ann . I have frequently seen Anto as personal name for  females especially in Tipperary.

That’s what puzzled me annclare and then I saw lots more. I have seen Anty a few times. I did wonder if that was a variation if Anastasia which is a very popular Wexford name.
