The online death index only covers to 2007.  There are some deaths from 2008 but this is based on info submitted by undertakers etc and only shows name/age/DoB/location

Thanks Carole.
At least now I know there is a logical reason for not finding the Death Index ref yet.
Don't feel too bad now, about not finding it.
Cheers

As Carole explained the indexes only go up to 2007.

However anything from then can be viewed at the following places.

The Library of Birmingham
Bridgend Local and Family History Centre
City of Westminster Archives Centre
Manchester Central Library
Newcastle City Library
Plymouth Central Library and
The British Library

There are a few Rootschatters who call at these places from time to time and may be able to do a look up for you.

A few options that may help you  ???  :)

For deaths (if a death certificate is needed by you or just to ask if they just have a record of the event indexed in their books) in the last decade, best contact the local register office covering the location city/town/village/hamlet or place of death of the deceased. In your case you say Doncaster.

http://www.doncaster.gov.uk/services/births-marriages-deaths-nationality/contact-us-registry-office

Cremation is/was likely but could be buried or interred in a council cemetery - thus contact as in link (they have a fixed search charge, most likely with or without a find) .

http://www.doncaster.gov.uk/services/births-marriages-deaths-nationality/record-search-for-burials-or-cremation

Anglican church burials, nonconformist burials would need further research to find where records are held (Doncaster council may know or advise you) but by 2008 most local daily evening newspaper deaths entries stated where the deceased was going to be cremated or buried. (you having a known month date 2008 should refine the search of a data base)

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Just a last minute after thought.  ???

Possible the reported event, death place registration district for Christina's death was in Notts covering Retford

If the death was in Retford Notts part of East Retford reg district Notts- it became part of Bassetlaw Reg District Notts 2005 (See links)

https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/ntt.html

https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/districts/east%20retford.html

West Retford came under East Retford reg district

Hope it helps  :)
