Sharsell and Barrett Kilkhampton

Hello all, hope you are doing well,

I was wondering if you could help us as we've hit a bit of a brick wall. So far we have Joshua Barrett was married Jane Ellery. Joshua's parents were William Barrett and Joanna Wood. William's parents were Charles Barrett and Jane Sharsell but we can't find anything else on them apart from when they married which was 10th Oct 1783. Can anyone help us out find out maybe the birth dates of them both and when they died? Or other family members?

A John Sharsell was a witness to the 10 Oct 1783 Marriage.
Possible Brother/Father for Jane.

So born c 1754 and 1760

There is a JOHN bapt 22 June 1750 same Parents

So do you think that the Jane and Charles who ended up in the poor house are the same Jane & Charles I'm looking for? I know the further you go back the more muddy the numbering gets, could this be a case of them writing down a date wrong?

Yes I think those Burials are yours.
Jane's age a little out but as she died in the poor house a few years off is not surprising.

Age at death is only as good as the informants knowledge.

Baptisms look likely to me also

Thank you Trish! With your help this afternoon I've gone back a bit further. So far I have Charles and Jane who sadly ended up in the poor house and found that Charles' father was called John the younger (-1787), who was married to Anne Jewell(1733-1799). I took a guess that if he's called John the younger his dad must be John sr and ancestry gave me his dates as (1694-1774). Not 100% sure on the dates as this weekend Ancestry only has a limited amount available and I don't have a subscription but looks interesting nonetheless!

Did you mean someones Tree or Parish Records?
I never trust Trees until I check all info is correct.

Did you check FreeREG and CornwallOPC?
They are good free sites.

The parish records and other records they had available online. I don’t usually look at other people’s trees, maybe for ‘inspiration’ if I’m stuck!

Fair enough, I look at Trees sometimes and then check everything.

I didnt realise Anc had many Cornwall Records.
