Wright Family Cheshire

Hope someone can help me please.  I've been struggling to trace a line in my family tree.  Received a marriage certificate that I thought would help but I'm still stumped.  My g-grandfather was William Wright born 1886 in Chester.  His father (my g.g grandfather) was William Wright and he was a gamekeeper (apparently he may have been from Norfolk but I don't have anything to show this).  I cannot find anything at all on him.  My g grandfather married Mary Ann Robinson in October 1912 in Nantwich.  He was a police constable.  I'd love anything I can get on my g g grandfather.  Any help at all would be much appreciated.

What is the source of the 1886 birthdate and Chester birthplace for William? Have you found him on a census?
There are a lot of births for William Wrights arund that time and in that area - but if it is exactly 1886 and Chester, and no middle name,  then how about:

Jul/Aug/Sep 1886 Chester Reg District, ref 8a 422, William Wright, mmn Ballaher

This 1891 census record has a William Wright aged 3 born in Poulton Cheshire whose father is William Wright , gamekeeper , born Barnham Broome , Norfolk. Have you ruled this one out ?

Thanks for the welcome and the reply lizdb.  I got the information from the 1911 Census.  The marriage certificate showed his address at the time of marriage so I know thats correct.  He was a boarder though so no other family detailed.

i found the Ballaher name on the GRO website yesterday, but when I searched for a marriage etc there was absolutely nothing.  Is there a way to get any further when you've got so little information?

Christine53 - thats amazing I've never seen that - can you tell I'm a bit rubbish.  Thanks so much I'll have a look into this one.  I guess the age could be slightly out anyway but this looks really good.

Both Arthur and Lily's birth regs have mmn of Ballance.  So I reckon that is what William's was actually meant to be too.
