Hello , I was hoping to search through San Francisco city directories for my Prout family living at 1177 California St ,I can't think where I got it from and my subscription does not cover the U S A .Any dates and addresses would be very welcome , thank you .

You probably accessed them on RootsWeb.com which had a huge number of free resources for California including San Francisco directories. I used them a lot for the Directories which were incredibly useful. Unfortunately the site is undergoing updates due to security problems and nothing is currently available.

Hi Alan,

Should already be in your notes. If you check back on previous thread, Lisa in California gave you information on many San Francisco addresses and 1177 California Street was one of them .................

Maybe you got the address from a census record?

Thank you everyone , I have just found the paperwork, it was taken from Familysearch.org a few years ago .It was driving me mad .
