William Jenkins b.c.1813 Monmouthshire
« on: Sunday 08 April 18 13:43 BST (UK) »
I am trying desperately to find a birth/baptism for William Jenkins b.c.1813 Monmouthshire.
William Jenkins (of Mynyddislwyn parish) married Rachel Evans (of Risca parish) at Mynyddislwyn 14 Jun 1834 (witnessed: Jane Walters/William Evans)

In 1851 Bassaleg, he was 39, born Mynyddislwyn. Children: Benjamin. Thomas & William - born Blaina, Risca & Bassaleg respectively. He died before the 1861 census.

There is a myriad of Monmouthshire births for William Jenkins, but nothing for Mynyddislwyn. Is there anyone with local knowledge that is able to suggest an adjacent parish to search for his birth?

Thank you in anticipation
Philip

possible burial 6 April 1853 in Risca for William Jenkins aged 41 of Bassaleg.

There is a baptism in Risca 7 Jan 1813 for William, son of Edward, carpenter, & Amy Jenkins but no son called Edward to your couple.

Parish map to help with your search

Many thanks Osprey. I did look at Edward/Amy who had a son William, but he emigrated to America and in his father's will was given 10 years to come back and claim his inheritance - or else it was to be given to others!
The 1853 burial does narrow things down and that looks a distinct possibility and the parish map very useful for finding my way around less well known territory.
Many thanks for your time and interest - much appreciated.
