Hi Heather

Do you mean 1863 rather that 1883? https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FQ4Q-GZ6

What was the address in Forres for Margaret's birth?

A potential brother Alexander in 1866? https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FQRK-CPP

There is this possible census entry for Alexander with mother Mary in 1871, but no sign of a Margaret in the household, so not sure:

Mary Mckimmie 32 Agr Lab. b. Banffshire
Alex Murray 4 b. Forres

Address: 65 High St Forres

I think this Mary Ann McKimmie went on to marry given this 1881 census entry:

Daniel Dingwall 52 meal miller b. Newspynie, Elginshire
Mary A Dingwall 42 b. Fordyce, Banffshire
Alexander Murray 14 Baker (Apprentice) b. Forres

Address: 21 Caroline Street, Forres

There are a number of a/try family trees for these family lines. They include this 1871 census entry for Margaret McKenzie/McKimmie staying with her paternal grandparents at the time of the census:

Roderick Mckenzie 81 Retired Ag Lab (pauper) b. Urquhart, Ross-shire
Catharine Mckenzie 59 b. Urquhart, Ross-shire
Mary Mckenzie 28 general servant b. Urquhart, Ross-shire
Margaret Mckenzie 7 granddaughter b. Forres

Address 9 Green Leanach, Urquhar and Logie Wester

Details for John, son to Roderick and Catherine are given as:

John McKenzie
1838–1907
Birth 1 JAN 1838 Culbokie, Urquhart, Ross and Cromarty
Death 6 OCT 1907 Aberdeen

Marriage to a Jane Dunbar in 1865 Alves Moray. He looks to have been a grocer's vanman/cater in later years.

Mary Ann McKimmie, daughter of a James McKimmie and a Janet Bremner, has the following details:

Mary Ann McKimmie
1837–1911
Birth 1837 Portsoy, Banffshire
Death 1 FEB 1911 Forres, Morayshire

Marriage to Daniel Dingwall in 1879 Forres.

Quite a lot of details included for the family of Margaret Mary Ann and her husband William Stewart and their childen.

Family trees belonging to others are always interesting to look through, letting you then go on to verify details for yourself. Not many include original images for their research sources.

Have you checked Margaret Mary Ann's death cert? Sometimes additional details on parents can be found on there.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thank you Forfarian  :) Having added some posts on that first link...no memory for me it seems!

Heather, have you actually viewed the possible 1864 death for a Mary Ann McKimmie mentioned in the other post? Did the address match that of Margaret Mary Ann's birth?
