Just checked the original 1901 because of discrepancies in Donald's age on the transcripts. Here's a snip. To me it read 2 1/2 and pauper has been crossed out. The birth cert did say born Poorhouse, Tain.

Any chance of finding Christiana Hunter, b. April  1861 on the 1871 census, Annie. The site I'm on is being daft!

Christiana's birth reg (Whins, Alloa) has William as a coal miner and mother as Janet MS Hunter Paton. Marriage given as May 31st 1851, Alloa  (both dead when she married in 1880)
