Baptism of Joseph SKETCHLEY baptised 1810 - 1815
« on: Monday 16 April 18 15:19 BST (UK) »
It seems Joseph SKETCHLEY was a son of Thomas SKETCHLEY & Rebecca MARSDEN.

In the following census Joseph's details are:
1851 - aged 41 born Thringstone
1861 - aged 50 born Coleorton
1871 - aged 60 born Coleorton
1881 - aged 71 born Coleorton

I am unable to locate his baptism and hope someone will be able to assist.

I can't see any baptisms in Leicestershire for Joseph, and there is a gap in the children -

Sarah - 1798
John - 1800
Mary - 1801
William - 1812

Marriage of Thomas and Rebecca in 1797 - all in Coleorton.  Both of them buried at Coleorton.

When Joseph marries in 1852, he says that Thomas is a Hawker - could that be the reason for the gap  :-\

Images of the baptisms for Coleorton are available to view on FindMyPast but there doesn't seem to be a baptism for Joseph.

FindMyPast also have the baptisms for Thringstone St Andrews but they don't start until 1862.

Thanks to Emeltom & BumbleB!

BumbleB you say Thomas burial at Coleorton; do you have the date???

Yes I saw Thomas was noted as a Hawker.  The marriage record did not record Thomas as deceased so wondering if that was accurate.

Thomas - 29 September 1819 - aged 82

Rebecca - 23 October 1825 - aged 48

Ummmhhh!  Looking at the ages, is that the right Thomas?  :-\

There is also this burial at St George's Chapel, Whitwick:

3 Jul 1850 Rebecca Sketchley of Farm Town, Coleorton, aged 71.

ADDED: This may be the Rebecca Sketchley who was in Ravenstone Hospital in 1841, aged 60.  Also at the hospital was a 13-year old Thomas Sketchley.
