Entering Widow in Tree

How do i enter the spouse of a family member if they are a widow? Do i enter them with their birth name or do i enter them with their name from their first marriage?

I always enter them with their birth name.
And then add their first marriage (& husband); and then their second marriage.

It comes down to your personal choice, but I agree with KGarrad. Birth name, and either enter the first marriage details, or just add a note to the individual.

When a widow came into our tree, I entered her married name, in the notes I put what the previous name was, this was easier for me as there weren't any issue, normally I put the birth name in, and their previous marriage details in if there were children from the 2nd/3rd marriage.  As said personal choice

I should add that, where I don't know the widow's maiden name, I enter her with the details and name I do know.

Then amend later, as and when (if?!) I find more details

As said, it's a personal choice - but this is my way of doing things

Personal choice

I would enter as 'married Jane Smith nee Bloggs'

(if Smith was name of first husband, and therefore name she used when marrying)
