More information such as the year and place and family names associated with the baptism document would be helpful.

I'm not sure that the word begins with an M.
Look at the name Moreton just below it,it has much more of a 'flowery' M.

I thought of Wakefield at first.......but the later letters don't fit.

I'm certain it's Montague, it's the Rd that my query mark was referring to.

Added  see M in Manchester.

I agree with Montague, but I think it's Str: (for Street).

St James was on Teignmouth Street, there is a Montague Street very close by on this map from NLS. The whole area looks to have been cleared/redeveloped
