Looking for the Littlejohns of Inverness Scotland Late 1600's

Hello,

My name is Jolene. I have ancestors from Scotland. Wanted to know if I can find any family. I only know of my grandpa named Henry F. Littlejohn. He was first married to Helen (Nellie) Buckley, but then MY grandma that I knew and LOVED very much. (R.I.P.) her name was Ernestine Fisher.

Henry was F.O.B. and came to America settling in New Orleans, LA.

I never knew anything about my family. My parents didn't discuss it...like my dad was not proud of his heritage

Henry died in 1954. Born 1892. I want to know if I have ANY family out there that I don't know of. Wanting to learn more than what I know, which is little to nothing.

There are lots of people here who may be able to help you.

The title of your post says 'late 1600s'.
Is this what you meant?
There is nothing in the body of your post to say you have traced your family back to the 1600s.
If this is not what you meant, you can change it as long as it's less than 24 hours since you first posted it. If not, you should ask the moderator if they will change it - there is a 'report to moderator' button on each post.

As far as tracing your family is concerned, you need to start with what you DO know, and be more specific.

For example, you say Henry Littlejohn died in 1954. Where? do you have his death certificate, which will probably give you some information about him?

You also say Henry Littlejohn married Ernestine Fisher. Where and when?
The same for the marriage of Henry Littlejohn marrying his first wife, Helen Buckley.
Any idea of about when, and where?
Again, the marriage certificates should give you information to be able to start tracing your family.

It would be helpful if you were to explain what 'FOB' means in this context.

Familysearch has a marriage for a Henry Field Littlejohn / Nellie Francis Buckley 1916 New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.

Henry's parents are given as Joseph F Littlejohn and Emma Heuring.

From the 1910 Census of New Orleans(if I have the correct family) Henry's father Joseph F Littlejohn's birthplace is given as North Carolina.

If so , a Scottish connection must be further back

Scotlandspeople has no old parish records for births, marriages or deaths for Littlejohn in Inverness from 1600 to 1700.

Have you got any further details to confirm who or when?

F. O. B.  might mean 'fresh off the boat', but this does not appear to be so from the records found.

Is it another member of your family who came from Scotland?

(ADDED) The 1880 census for New Orleans Parish shows Joseph snr's parents both born NC, Mary's parents born Mass and Va. Joseph snr is a broker.



If this line is correct, we need to find a birth c1815 for Joseph LITTLEJOHN snr in North Carolina c1815.
