I wanted to see the exact details as I alread have 'my' John Brady's Baptism record and he was born 6 May 1881 in Charlemont Street. Father Michael Brady, Mother Bridget Convoy, which reads CONBOY

I found the Birth Certificate for John Brady  Birth Date: 6 Jun 1881
John Brady born 6th Jun 1881 at Mastersons Cottages, Charlemont Street. Dublin (no mention of Rathmines) Father Michael Brady Mother Bridget Kinsella

I looked and looked last night and eventually decided it was in the darkened part and couldn’t be seen. They are difficult registers to read.

I was also confused re the information, tmp48, between Conboy/Convoy and Kinsella.

The name seems to be Conboy according to the records but are you saying that these are two different John Bradys - one with mother Bridget Conboy and one with mother Bridget Kinsella?

Maybe Bridget was widow when she got married.

Or as found recently on another family the priest put the mother's mother's maiden name on the baptism.

A check would be needed for a second John Brady, there could be two, and other Brady children and or two Michael Brady marriages to Bridgets.

It's also possible the nurse who registered the birth got Bridget's name wrong.

It would be reasonable to expect more children before John.

I cannot see a marriage between a Michael BRADY & Brigid (and variants) KINSELLA at that time; nor births to this couple that would indicate clearly that there was a second couple of similar names.  It could be a clerical error that occurred.

Different informants and birth dates but registered on the same day the maiden name of the mother on the birth before John Brady's is also Kinsella. Quite a few births registered that day.

When my grandmother's sister went to apply for a widow's pension some years ago she looked for a marraige certificate to find it was registered as if she had married the best man, her brother-in-law!

Somehow, I thought the OP was thinking there were two different children because of the discrepancy in the date. If so, I was going to say it is a common occurrence as Baptism was more important than birth registration.
