John Gould and Mary Hunt
« on: Sunday 22 April 18 16:47 BST (UK) »
John and Mary married at North Littleton on 1 June 1738 (info from Philmore) and baptised these children (info from the parish registers), also at North Littleton:

Elizabeth in 1739
Jonathan in 1741
James in 1744
William in 1747
Joseph 1750
John 1752
and
Henry 1757

Can anyone please help me get back a further generation by finding likely baptisms for the parents themselves?

Thanks

The name Gould is often recorded as Gold or Goold. As far as I can see only one record in Worcestershire but several options elsewhere in England.

John Gold baptism 29 June 1707 Cleeve Prior, Worcestershire. Parents Richard & Ann. Richard Gould married Ann Andrews 24 Aug 1706 . St Andrews Cleeve Prior.

Two possible Mary’s in the area of  North Littleton.

Mary Hunt baptism August 1713 St James, Badsey, Worcestershire. Parents Thomas & Ann, abode Bretforton.

Mary Hunt baptism 27 Dec 1705, St Mary, Wick, Worcestershire
Parents John, a labourer & Elizabeth.

I’m not sure if any of this helps but it might lead you somewhere.

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

Thanks peeps.

My mistake  :-[  I see now that the wedding was at Cleeve Prior and it says "Mary Hunt of N. Littleton".

Which probably makes the baptism that Colin found in Cleeve Prior for John Gold in 1707 of interest.  Pity John and Mary didn't have a son called Richard, because that would really have helped  ;)

Will follow up those baptisms, and also see if I can find a burial for the couple on the off-chance that there might be a lead (to their ages) there.
