There's a civilian war death in June 1941 for Thomas Crossfield.

Not an expert but think his death at Nell Lane was most probably the result of enemy action.

Thomas Crossfield was born in 1878, and was a Cemetery Caretaker in 1939.  He was buried 18 June 1941 at Southern Cemetery in the same grave as 4 other people, one of them possibly his wife.

Hi bumbleb.
Thank you for your help.
That's probably why my mum thought her dad was born in wales. If his mum was working there.

I do remember my mum saying  that her gran Frances  was a house keeper  for Mr Crossfield. Because he was the Caretaker of the cemetery grounds.
So I'm wondering.  She could have left  her job in wales.  And came to England  and for a job working as a house keeper. I'm just wondering now. What if while she was over in wales  she got caught  pregnant with my grandad.  Then maybe  lost her job or left it.and then came  back to England where she was born. Got a job with Mr Crossfield. And when the time came. She had her son Alfred. ? The only thing is. Where was her son after she had him?  Unless  she had  him with her.while working as the house keeper.

Well thank you again for helping me with this.
I really do appreciate it honestly.
Thank you again.

Dorothy

Sorry Dorothy, perhaps you'll never find the whereabouts of Frances between 1911 in Wales and 1914 in Manchester.

School admissions may help to locate Alfred Evan as a child - not sure where Manchester school records can be found AND Chorlton on Medlock would cover a large number of schools.

Frances was a Laundress, not a Housekeeper = 1911, 1914, 1939 and her death certificate.   ;)

Thanks for that.

I really was confused about that. Frances's  job's.
Because my mum mentioned something about her gran working as a house maide. Unless I heard her  wrong.
I do remember her definitely  saying  her gran  was living with Mr Crossfield. And he was a care taker for a cemetery.

Thank you again for helping me out with  these. Its awful  when you can't remember.
