FreeReg may have the marriage of Barbara's parents (if they are her parents!)
1 January 1927, Shalford St.Andrew
Walter Richard Goddard + Eva May Thorogood

Possibly it's a brother of Eva, Charles Thorogood, who married at the same church later that quarter.

Billericaly is indeed the registration District.

Brentwood parish (St Thomas) itself is very small.  Most parts of what is thought of as the town of Brentwood comes under either South Weald, Great Warley or Shenfield.

Have you checked South Weald?

PS Shalford is north of Braintree, would never be described as Brentwood. Maybe they moved later.

Mention of Walter Richard Goddard, unemployed, Cressing Way, Braintree
Essex Newsman, 7 Nov 1931

That's just after the birth of Barbara.

No ... will try that Lizdb. Thanks.
Jonw65 - no other Goddards around, so they may well have moved from Braintree, even though it’s a long way away.
Will check south Weald and come back.

The other one to check would be Christ Church, Warley (as opposed to the parish churches of Great Warley and Little Warley, that you have already done).
This is situated in what would now be described as Brentwood, rather than in the villages of GW or LW.

Her father was Walter Richard but yes it should be easy. I have her birth certificate and it was Billericay district but in Brentwood. Thanks for looking anyway!

And yes, that is the marriage record of her parents. I have a copy myself.

What address was she born at?  Then we can see what parish that was in. (they may not have used that Church but it will be a starting point)
