Ousden/Newmarket Baptism
« on: Friday 27 April 18 08:54 BST (UK) »

Hello

Im wondering if anyone could help me please, im desperately looking for the birth or baptism of my Great Great Grandfather Charles Wood in 1853 . He states Ousden/Newmarket as his place of birth on the 1891 1901 census after he married, but i can no find no trace of him before his marriage.

I can find a Charles Wood born in Woodbridge Suffolk 1853 but i am sure this is not the correct man.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Nichola

I was just going the same route that I see we have been before (me included) wondering if he was Charles Swan brother of Alfred who is staying with Charles in 1891  ;D

Charles Swann was boarding with him on the 1891 census, just cant make a definite link to why he would change to Wood from Swann if that was the case? I have lots of postcards from Newmarket from his family telling me all about whats going on, so it would be lovely to link it all together.
Hopefully this marriage certificate might help.
Thanks

Hello again

Ive got Charles Wood's marriage certificate here but i cannot see how to attach it?
His fathers name is James Wood (Labourer) Charles is 36 when they married in1886 in Middlesbrough.
Birthplace always stated as Ousden or Newmarket on the Census records.

Thanks in advance.
