William Taylor

I'm looking for the parents of William Taylor born 1803 - 1807 in gt budworth Cheshire. He married an Elizabeth Taylor in 1827 in Warrington. On the 1851 census they have a Margaret Taylor living with them she was born in Scotland about 1789 but can't prove whose mother she was.
Can anyone help?

There is a baptism in Great Budworth 20 March 1803 with father William, no mother listed for a William Taylor (familysearch)  This needs further investigation as there appears to be another William Taylor bn GB around the same time

Yes I have looked at this. Witness William could be Elizabeth's brother also. I found an Elizabeth born 1808 also a William born 1806 parents William and Elizabeth but can't prove it i have the correct one. The Lancashire online records have William and Elizabeth's marriage but no father's names. Apparently the early marriage certificates didn't have them on.
Don't know where to go from here.

The 1808 baptism for Elizabeth at St Elphin does look promising - same parish as your Elizabeth was married in.*

Her father William was a timber merchant so may have had some assets - perhaps worth looking for a will for him in case he mentions a daughter Elizabeth?

*Mind you, now that I look at it, there are a huge number of Taylor entries at St Elphin

Another candidate baptism for Elizabeth (who was “30” in 1841; 41 in 1851):

1 Apr 1810, St Elphin, Warrington

Betty Taylor, daur of William Taylor (chair maker) and Margaret.

(I note that Elizabeth’s husband William was a chair maker in 1841 and on the baptisms of many of their children).

Yes I looked at that one too. On the census record's there is about 3-4 years between them. So if she was born 1810 he could have been born around 1806-1807 so it rules out William 1803. William was born in gt Budworth Cheshire, Elizabeth was born in Warrington. So not sure where William would have been christened.

How many census entries have you got for William, and what are his birth details in each one?

I have seen:

1841 (Olliver St, Warrington): William Taylor 30 Chair m Y
1851 (66 Jersey St, Manchester): William Taylor 44 Joiner Cheshire Gt Budworth

On 1861 census he's at Loom at and his age is 55.

It is the second most common surname in the country. Come to that I haven't found a Smith in my tree but have several Taylors with brick walls whenever I reach a William.
