JAGGARD burials - Elijah and Betsey
« on: Saturday 28 April 18 22:31 BST (UK) »
Although Elijah and Betsey were living in Stetchworth when they died - Elijah in 1916 and Betsey in 1900 - they do not appear in the list of MIs for Stetchworth.

Does anyone know where they were buried ?

Thanks,

Heatha

Just because there is no MI for them doesn't mean that they were not buried at Stetchworth.  Have you checked the church burial records?
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thank you. I have a transcript of the PRs but the burial book for 1886 onwards was stolen. I should have put that in my original message  :-[

Oh, dear - well it was an idea  :'(  Have you tried local newspapers, to see if there is any mention?

I have checked the papers and can only find a Betsy Jaggard (not mine - wrong place, wrong age). No mention of Elijah. He was living in an Almshouse in Stetchworth in 1911 so not sure it there are Almshouse records anywhere. I assume that anyway - his address appears to be Hall Farm but the description says Pensioner in Almshouse, as far as I can decipher it.

Yes, I read the address as Almshouse, and a pensioner.  I would therefore assume that he was being cared for/housed by the parish.
