But the areas shown are different.
I can understand a confusion for Manchester but not if the record shows Radcliffe  ???

FindMyPast is showing the wrong map, I think.

Perhaps it would help if we had the full name of the person living at number 59 so we could all be sure we are on the right page.

OP said that the surname was Read - there are 3 people at No: 59 with the surname Read - Mary L, William H and Florence.  One closed record.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

I think the wrong map has been linked by FindMyPast.

The OP obviously has had sight of 1939 register, looked up Bury Street and mistakenly found the one in Radcliffe. :-\

Extra clues can be found in the 1911 census.

The code 464 is used on both the 1911 and 1939, I presume the 1921 also when it becomes available.

Try looking on the page for someone who may have also been in the street in 1911, elderly persons are primary targets.

I looked at the image and found Maria Griffiths also on the 1911 at 55 having moved to 39 at some point inbetween.

Bury Street is enumerated in Gorton, reg district Chorlton, in 1911

Thank you everyone for all of your help.  This research is for the fellow who cuts my hair. He was raised in Manchester.  We both live just outside of Vancouver. Whenever I’m there I take my iPad to research a bit more for him. We were looking for Bury Street in Gorton on my last visit and no wonder we couldn’t find it.  It’s no longer there.  He was recently back there for a wedding and got very nostalgic. He has been here for about 40 years but now is keen to return this summer.  There is an aunt in her 90’s that he wants to get more family info from.  I’m trying to help him find some of his old stomping grounds.  On the 1939 Register, the last entry for the Reads would be his dad who was born in 1920.  He passed away several years ago, here in Canada.
Thank you so much again,
Alva
