OK so what you have on William Webb is as follows, I think?

01 Apr 1839: Marriage in Shadwell - he is of full age, a shoemaker, living in Splides?/Splits?/ Terrace.  Father: Henry Webb, labourer.  Witnesses: Jno Lovell; Jane Protheroe.

1841 census: Still in Splits (or whatever) Terrace.  Aged 22.  The rest of his entry is so faint I cannot read it.*

13 Nov 1842: William Webb, 24, of John St is buried at St Matthew, Bethnal Green (is this him?).

*1841 ref: HO107/696 bk12 f41 p36.

Caithness: MacGregor
Essex: Eldred (Pebmarsh)
Gloucs: Timbrell (Winchcomb)

Tricky.  Have you managed to trace the marriage witness Jane Protheroe in case she is related?

I did think of her, but can't see anything obvious.

Have you looked on census to see if there are any possible candidates living in the Shadwell area  :-\

Hi Rosie, are you referring to Henry Webb or Jane Protheroe?

I can only find 1 Henry Webb in Shadwell, he is the one I already know about.

He is living with Mary who is 20 years younger than him so I assumed she was his daughter, however I found a marriage in 1833 back in Harefield that would fit.

I have now proved that the 1841 census showing Henry & Mary Webb are not the right ones. as the marriage shows Henry as a Batchelor.

I also think the Henry married Sarah Pulford in 1818 in Fulham, again the only result that fits.
