Hi and welcome to Rootschat, I would love to help, but with surnames like Jones/Evans in Caernarvonshire/Wales it would really help if you could supply the approximate years of birth/marriages of the named Jones/Evans families?

Hi
There is a grave at Sant Aelhaearn church:
Robert Evans, porthmon (drover/cattle dealer), Glanllyn, Llanaelhaiarn, 1838-1915; his wife Jannet Evans, 1836-1918; their grandson Ifor Hywel Jones Evans, Frondeg (died as a result of an accident whilst following his duties in Gloucester), 16/08/1943 aged 27.
This info will enable you to find them in the 1911 Census.
Family at same address 1901 Census  - haven't looked further back.
Burial register available on  http://www.yffor.com/cemeteries.html  , as is the new  public cemetery 1953 -1987. Donation of £5 per month payable towards cost of running site.

Too busy at the moment to research further, but will follow topic.
Emyr

Hi
My Mother Madge Jones nee Evans would have been your Father's cousin. Her father was the Robert and Jannet's youngest son Robert who up until the early 1930's had the Vaynol Shop (Siop cornel) in Llanaelhaearn and also lived at Frondeg.
Our Great Grandfather Robert Evans was born 1838 in the old parish of Llangelynin above the Conwy Valley. His father Owen Evans died in 1850. In the 1851 Census at the age of 12 Robert was an ag. lab. on the farm Bryntudor, Gyffin. At the age of 15 Robert and his two brothers moved to Llanaelhaearn to work in the newly opened granite quarry as sett makers.
In the 1861 Census that Cas found occupying the next cottage is Robert's older brother William and younger brother Hugh. William went onto take over the Post Office in Llithfaen and became a prominent member of the community opening a another shop and building some 50 quarrymen's cottages.
Sett making was a tedious job and Robert soon became a drover walking the welsh black cattle from the Lleyn to London and other towns in the Midlands and Yorkshire. In the 1860's he was the landlord of the Sportman's Inn outside Clynnog. He then took over the farm Glanllyn in Llanaelhaern and became a butcher and cattle dealer, becoming well known throughout North Wales and the market towns of England. He died in 1915.
I believe John Jones was a blacksmith born in 1856 to John Jones a farmer at Llandwrog.
If you get a few more posts up you are welcome to PM me with your e-mail address and I can let you have more information.

Cas just to explain the confusion Robert and Jannet had another daughter called Elizabeth born 1870 who married another John Jones. The family moved like many others to find work in the coalmines of South Wales. Another member of that side of the family has told me that they had a hard time and Robert and Jannet would look after some of the children.
