Sunday’s Well Cork
« on: Saturday 05 May 18 10:12 BST (UK) »
My grandfather lived in Cork during the 1880s. As a 12 year old he lived with his uncle and aunt in Soho cottage, Sunday's Well and went to school there. I believe that they grew flowers and vegetables for sale and the uncle was a telegraph engineer. His name was Francis Pomeroy and my grandfather was Edwin Francis.
Can anybody advise me where Soho Cottage is or if it still exists?
Any other information regarding this would be very helpful.
Thank you
John

In 1891 there is a Francis Pomeroy born to a Francis Pomeroy and Mary Frances at Soho Cottage so that's the connection.

Sinann,

Not sure how I did this but Soho Terrace is the continuation of Rope Walk. On this site, you can zoom in and then do an overlay. I did 25” and it shows Soho Cottage. It is between Soho Terrace and Gaol View Terrace. I hope it works  :)

Slight mention in papers gives address as Soho Cottage, Strawberry Hill, Sundays Well , for rent in 1876 describes it as a detached cottage.

There may have been a cottage before the Terrace was built, Strawberry Hill is just at the end of the road.
