Lost Fewell/Fuell of Docking
« on: Friday 11 May 18 14:33 BST (UK) »
Hi All

I was wondering is there anywhere on line i could look at Marriages registered in Docking.

I have a Jane Fewell (Feuell/Fuell) marrying O-D Docking 1837 to Robert Bobbin.
I am trying to ascertain who her father was and his occupation, as well as the date of marriage.

Can anyone advise please.

Thank you.

Findmypast have Norfolk parish records, but there doesn't seem to be a marriage for a Robert Bobbin to a Jane Fewell (or to anyone come to that).  His marriage is on Findmypast but only with the same info as FreeBMD, nothing on Ancestry either.  Norfolk Family History probably have the records on line but you need to be a member of Norfolk Family History Society.  Alternatively, you could always buy the marriage certificate.

The 1841 census suggests that Robert was a labourer but, that doesn't help with Jane's father.

Hi Kath

The marriage took place in the Docking Registration District so it could be in any of the parishes listed here:-  https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/districts/docking.html

The parishes transcribed by the Norfolk Family History Society can be seen here:- http://www.rootschat.com/links/01m1w/

I have had a look and cannot find the marriage, so it must be in one of the other parishes, my money is on Ringstead ;)

I presume this is them?

1841 Census
Great Ringstead St Andrew and St Peter, Nofolk
Robt Bobbin, 30, Labourer
Jane Bobbin, 25

Death Reg;
BOBBIN, ROBERT age 31***
GRO Reference: 1842  M Quarter in OF THE DOCKING UNION, NORFOLK  Volume 13  Page 46

Now interestingly there is a 1843 Marriage Tunstead for a Jane BOBBIN to Augustine John EMPSON.

He is a Police Office living next door to Robert/Jane in 1841 Census.

He appears to die 1853;
Augustine John Empson
Age:   31
Birth Date: 1822
Burial Date: 10 Mar 1853
Burial Place: St James Church, Holy Trinity, Kingston Upon Hull

Havent found them in 1851 Census yet.

1851 in Kingston upon Hull;
Augustus I Empson born c  1822 Sea Palling, Norfolk
JANE Empson born c 1823 Hunstardon, Norfolk, England

May have dropped her age?

1871 Jane Empson is in Norfolk born c 1815 Hunstanton, Widow, Housekeeper

Maybe right off track here but as I dont know where you Jane Fewell (Fuell) is from it may be a possible scenario for her.

Cant see anything on line for second Marriage though to confirm she was a Widow.

The Jane Bobbin who married Augustine Empson 1843 was a spinster (married at Lessingham).

Thanks for that Annette.

So strange that he is next door to a Robert/Jane Bobbin in 1841 Census.
Maybe not the married couple but brother/sister, who knows.

Trish :)
