Hanbury at Richmond Barracks Dublin
« on: Friday 11 May 18 18:51 BST (UK) »
info sought on Terence Hanbury, a soldier stationed in Richmond Barracks when marrying in 1871 to Mary Tool.
Regiment may have been 1st Bat/9th foot. Would like to find out more about the military stationed there at this time if at all possible so any tips, pointers, appeciated as have not investigated this area previously

Many thanks,
 Scatty

1st Battalion 9th Regiment arrived there (newspapers) there in January from Ship Street Barracks Dublin and some companies were reported leaving in September 1871 for Cork.
Never straightforward as elements of a number of regiments would have been stationed there plus Service Corps, Garrison staff and as in September, a battalion didn't always all move at the same time.
Do these months fit or alternatively when was the marriage?

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Thank you  for your reply MaxD,
Their marriage was on 13th July 1871. I'm not familiar with military research but your information is very interesting.

Scatty my name is John Kenny in Dublin and I came across your message from May 2018 re: Terence Hanbury. My grandson (*) ask me to research his family name. (*) is a great, great, great, great grandson of Private Terence. I have worked in reverse from (*) and was running out of options when I found you messages. I have traced Terence's father and either his grandfather or uncle when they were renting land in area's Kinvara, Kinvaradoorus and Kiltartan, all in Gort, County Galway sometime around 1850. I would very much appreciate if you would make contact and we could possibly exchange information.
Ps the army barracks is now a museum, and about 4 miles from my home
