1695 Latin Marriage entry
« on: Saturday 12 May 18 19:14 BST (UK) »
Good evening,

I'm having difficulty deciphering the extra line of Latin text shown after the names in a Yorkshire register.  Please see attached image.

I hope you can help.

Regards,

Janet

It looks like "Ille Sextus erat Maritus" - "He was her sixth husband". Does that seem feasible?
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Good morning ArthurK,

thank you for the quick response.
Married six times in the 1600's, must be a record?

Regards,

Janet

It's the sort of unusual circumstance that does occasionally get recorded - though sometimes you need to take things with a pinch of salt.
