Place on a baptism record in Fordoun? John Bridgeford b.1793
« on: Sunday 13 May 18 20:39 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone.

This is the baptism record of John Bridgeford. He is the first child of my 5x great-grandparents. James Bridgeford and Helen Coullie/Cowllie/Cowley.

They married in Feb 1793 in Fordoun. She must've been fairly far along, as they married 2 months before their son John was baptised.

The place looks like Gallowquhine? I can't seem to find anything similar in the area. Can anyone help me locate this place please?

Many thanks.

http://www.scottish-places.info lists a settlement Galloquhine near Auchenblae, modern-day Aberdeenshire.

I found it on this map: https://maps.nls.uk/view/91617300#

Afraid I cannot persuade this browser to insert an image, so I will attach a snippet of the map instead.

Many thanks Gordon. Easily solved as it turns out! Didn't think to omit the "W".

Cheers again.
