LUCY Family: Anthony Lucy b.1809(approximately)
« on: Monday 14 May 18 21:33 BST (UK) »
My name is William Lucy and I'm studying my 3rd great-grandfather, Anthony Lucy, who I believe may have been born in Fermanagh and emigrated to Ontario, Canada.  I have been unable to track his departure point, departure date, and ancestry and would greatly appreciate assistance.

Information sources:
- Family lineage documents:  Anthony Lucy (approx 1809-1871)  Son:  William Lucy (1847-1934)
- Canadian Census, 1861:  Anthony Lucy, age 52, occupation: shoemaker, born Ireland, sons William, George and John (14, 11, 10).
- Son William was born in Welland, Ontario, Canada, then emigrated to Seneca, Ohio in 1855.
- Irish Pedigrees; or The Origin and Stem of The Irish Nation, vol 2, pages 293-294:  summary of "The Lucys of Doogary".  There is no mention of the Anthony I'm seeking here, but it turns up frequently in my searches, as there are multiple Anthonys and Williams listed.  I.e. - this could be nothing, or maybe this is indeed my family.

If he is a descendant of this family, I estimate that he is in the 4th or 5th generation of descendants of Thomas Lucy, who established the family in Ireland, having moved from Hanley Oxfordshire.

Many thanks,
William

This website is an excellent resource.
Unfortunately I don't have a marriage certificate yet.
I'll submit a request through this website and see if anything turns up.

Thanks very much for your help.

Even if you find an Anthony, how will you know he is yours??
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Hi William
I'm trying to find out information about my great great great grandfather William Lucy whose son, William, was born in Enniskillen in about 1839.  If you have any ideas, please let me know.
Kind regards
Juliet.
