Thomas Partridge 1808-30 OCT 1891 London, ON Canada Michigan Marriage

Trying to find a marriage document for Thomas Partridge Born  2 APR 1808 • Dunstable, Bedfordshire, England.

We know he married Jane Clark 10 Mar 1859 in Port Huron, Michigan.

Notes we have from an announcement are:

By the Rev. M. Hickey, Episcopal Methodist Minister, in the city of Port Huron, Michigan, and at his residence, on the 10th ult., THOMAS PARTRIDGE, Sen Esq., of the city of London, Canada West to JANE, second daughter of the late Mr Donald Clark, Schoolmaster, Petty, Scotland

The "Sen" after his name would seem to point to his father being Thomas as well.   Some suggest Esq. indicated a legal profession but we find him listed as a joiner or carpenter on census records  and his death record.   There is a Thomas Partridge born about 1831 and living near "my" Thomas and he was a lawyer but we can't make a connection.

As Thomas was 50 and Jane 43 it seems late for a first marriage. Wondering if it was a second for one or both. We know some of the Clark siblings were in Michigan so that likely explains the location of the marriage

The marriage record  is on Ancestry in their "Michigan, County Marriage Records, 1822-1940 " dataset.

There is no indication of their marital status.

The "Sen" would suggest that there was a younger Thomas Partridge in the family - probably a son. I wouldn't read anything into the "Esq " bit. It's just a courtesy thing , a posh alternative to "Mr."

The image of the marriage record is available on familysearch. It doesn't give a lot of info but does show the witnesses. They may or may not be related but might be worth tracing.
