British soldiers serving in the American Revolutionary War query
« on: Thursday 17 May 18 11:21 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Today I woke up thinking about something. The other day I discovered one of my ancestors was a former Royal Marine - but this was only discovered by consulting the 1851 Census. It got me thinking - what about ancestors who may have served during wars such as the American Revolutionary War or the Napoleonic Wars? Many of mine wouldn't have survived to the census to state that they were ex-military or navy men.

Do many of these service records survive?
