Richd Bush
« on: Friday 18 May 18 10:32 BST (UK) »
I wonder if someone could help please, i am trying to find out what the marriage between Richd Bush and Hannah Wood says, as Ancestry only has the index on it. The marriage took place in 1693 in Yatton, Somerset. Thanks

Before Hardwicke's Marriage Act of 1753, very little information was entered in the Parish Register for marriages.
Usually just the names of the bride & groom and the date of the marriage.
Sometimes the resident parishes of the bride and/or groom were entered.

That's what i was hoping for, that they may say where he came from, because there are two possible births for Richard Bush one is 1660 in Stoke St Michael Somerset to a Robert and Ruth and the other one is in Bristol in 1667 to a Thomas. The main thing putting me off Stoke is Robert does not appear to be family name carried on, but Thomas is. Richard and Hannah settled in Backwell somerset to have their children. Thanks for the reply

There are some Yatton records under www.portbury-hundred.co.uk.

But nothing for Richard Bush? But there are gaps :-\

Somerset Heritage Centre might be the place to go?
FamilySearch.org has only the details you provided - which makes me think that is all there is?

Hi
Have you considered the baptism at Butcombe?
Richardus Bush s of Thome (Thomas) and Jana (Jane)Bush 26.1.1662

Brother Samuel 20.8.1660 and burial of sister Martha 1.7.1666.

Marriage possibly  at Corston 23.10.1659 Thomas Bush and Joanne Attwood of Newton St Loe.
Son of William Bush of Kelston.

Children  Grace baptised at Newton St Loe 13.2.1666 and son Thomas buried there 23.3.1672/3
Grace could have married at Backwell 4.4.1695 to Richard Heal  (Only baptism and marriage in Somerset for a Grace Bush)

Just a thought

ps had a look at that marriages at Yatton pg44/45 register 1675-1761 on Ancestry and it's just not there.Odd! I suppose it depends whether the Ancestry copy is the original or the Bishops Transcripts.

Ancestry's image is of the original and it certainly looks like the marriage is not recorded there. FindMyPast have an index derived from the BTs and they do include it, 5 Jan 1693. Unfortunately they do not have images, so we can't tell who made a mistake.

Hello
The Butcombe stuff was off FindMyPast as is a transcript of the Somerset Baptism and burial indexes.
Their surname is spelled Bush.
You can see the list of possible results for Bush in Butcombe without subscribing -he is there.
Ancestry doesn't start till 1692 for Butcombe which is why it's not coming up.
