RAF postings
« on: Monday 21 May 18 19:03 BST (UK) »
Attached is a list of postings from my father's WW2 Royal Air Force records. Can anyone help me to decipher where these places are?  I know that he spent a lot of time in Forres, Morayshire, but that is all. Sorry about the quality - I couldn't get it into a smaller file. Many thanks in advance,

Liz

The last few lines are the standard details of his release from the service (there will be a date) initially to the Class G reserve (normal - meant that if the war broke out he'd be recalled.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Hello Liz

The following Volumes were original documents (not microfilmed), so any Reader will require a "Readers Ticket", so ensure you have the required printed address ID and formal photographic ID with you, to prove who you are AND the address where you live at.

See "Visit Us" page before going.

7 STT possibly the following
AIR 29/740
7 School of Technical Training Locking, Innsworth Lane, Gloucester, UK. Includes Movement Instructions. With appendices, May 1940 to April 1944
http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C4100449

Abroad
http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7161158

Probably not going to be hugely detailed. Bear in mind some of these Units moved about, but not seen.

Technical Training (search in AIR 29, 1939 to 1945)
http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_aq=Technical%20training&_col=0&_cr=AIR%2029&_dss=range&_sd=1939&_ed=1945&_ro=any&_hb=tna&_st=adv

19 Operational Training (search results 1939 to 1945)
http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_ep=19%20Operational%20training&_col=0&_cr=AIR&_dss=range&_sd=1939&_ed=1945&_ro=any&_hb=tna&_st=adv

You can find some RAF Stations Operations Record Book under "AIR 28"

Thank you, Mark. That is great information. My mother was a Waaf, (LACW), and did her technical training at Locking, so a trip to Kew might be well worthwhile. I am really grateful for your help.

Liz.
