Where can I find the army number of Bernard Joseph Murphy he was in the 1st and 8th tank regiment WW2.

Only on his record which is still at the MOD.  You can apply for his record without his number if that is what you are after as long as you have the death cert and the date of birth etc as in the conditions

The web site is misleading in that the top page says you need a service number but when you come to the form it says and/or!
