So the three Baldwin brothers were all in England at the time of Isabella’s conception in 1879.

I don’t know how you could prove anything, but would observe that Stephen’s occupation of mariner might have made it easier for him than his farm-labouring brothers to have an extramarital liaison in Chelsea.

Which child of theirs died? I missed that.

Apologies it was a child b 1879 who died -so not Thomas Henry's

I would agree when you consider the distance from Kent to Chelsea.

Putting 2 & 2 together, I wonder if Thomas ran off with Rosina  :-\

and in Mar 1883 Nina was admitted to Workhouse with her 3 month old son George Preston??

Maybe finding further details of him may give clues

George Preston was in the "cottage homes" at Banstead in 1891, and seems to have joined the army later.

Educated: Kensington & Chelsea District School, Banstead, Surrey.

He joined the Royal Irish Rifles as a boy aged 15yrs 2mo on 10 March 1898.

Next of kin: No Relations.

Posted to India on 7 December 1900.

Attained 18 years and "promoted" from boy to private on 10 Jan 1901.

Died at Naini Tal (in India) of "tubercle" on 23 July 1902.

How odd - "Louisa 8 dead 1874 St George's Hospital".

Does that mean born 1874 at St George's? Why list her if she's dead?

She'd been baptised 10 days before this settlement record - 15 July 1883.
