Thomas Gorml(e)y
« on: Wednesday 30 May 18 12:13 BST (UK) »
Thomas Gorml(e)y was an itinerant coach painter who married Mary Ann McCauley in 1870 in the Catholic Church, Enniskillen.  H e seemed to have moved about in Fermanagh and Tyrone, but the only birth records I have are from Omagh.  He died in Omagh, and his wife moved to Liverpool.  Family legend says that they had 3 daughters (none of which I can find) who were left behind before 1900.  Has anyone any knowledge of this family?
I have not posted this message in Tyrone yet.

That's a wide range to search for unknown births, have you got a date for his death and what dates are the births you did find?

When a search covers more that one counties it's better to put it on Ireland General rather than making the same post on two different boards.

Sorry, I didn't add Thomas's death to the post.  He died on 19 June 1885 in Omagh.  His oldest child (I think) was Thomas Joseph Gormly born 21 November 1876.  I have his son James, aged 17 living with his grandmother in Enniskillen in the 1901 census.  His son Michael, born 6 April 1885 in Henry Street, Enniskillen, was already in the Royal Marines by then, but no sign of any daughters.  You see my dilemma?
I just hoped someone would know of these Gormlys due to their family search.

He died in Enniskillen.
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1885/06288/4801610.pdf
Married 1870
Thomas born 1876
James c 1883
Michael 1885
Died 1885
So space before and after Thomas for more children.

Yes, from lead poisoning from the paint he used, and yes those would be the years when the girls would have been born, but I have searched in vain. I am busy searching the 1901 census now.

Died.   In Enniskillen, not Omagh...

I stand corrected. I misread his death record.

Is this James in 1901?
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Fermanagh/Enniskillen_Urban/Henry_Street/1364918/
He was born England, so if it is the correct James maybe some of the missing children were also born in England.
