If we go with the idea that there were two Henry BURNs and that the Henry who married Maria OVERMAND is not our man, how about:

Marriage Jun qtr 1843 Leeds vol 23 p271: 8 names on page including Henry BURN and Johanna SWALES

Birth Jun qtr 1848 Hunslet vol 23 p299 BOURNE George mmn SWALES.

So SWALES is in.  OVERMAND out!  ;D ;D

looking at your most recent post - Cowass as a middle name? - He'd be teased mercilessly about that today!

Yes - Cowass transcribed as Cowap on FindMyPast but the original looks clearly to me to have the archaic double-S.

Seems to be primarily a Cheshire surname?  Not one I'd come across before.

Hannah (Burn) is still in Hunslet in 1871 but is shown as a widow. She is 48, a Pottery Hand, born Halheath.
