loss of images in familysearch?
« on: Thursday 31 May 18 14:47 BST (UK) »
I have long made use of the PR held on familysearch.

But recently, I went to pick up a baptism for Diss, and there are NO baptisms listed. Only Banns, Burials and Marriages.

Is this a bug, or has something changed in their deal with the NRO?

Don't know what time frame you are looking at but there are these

https://www.familysearch.org/search/film/004033520?i=2&cat=472308

https://www.familysearch.org/search/film/004033520?cat=472308

Taken from this link
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/472308?availability=Family%20History%20Library

Again, those appear to be marriages. It's the Baptism (and mixed) PRs that seem to have gone missing, at least for Diss.

They're still present for some other Parishes.

The last link I gave seems to indicate that baptisms/burials are only available at a FHC

Not missing. There's no camera icon for two films, thus no digital images available. Yet. They do have DGS numbers though!

Unfortunately DGS numbers but no images is quite common at the moment.  Some DGS numbers suggest they have been digitised for some time but hopefully it'll get resolved at some point.

Diss baptisms can be viewed on FindMyPast.  I suspect possibly they are the images from Familysearch.  They may also be viewable on Ancestry but haven't checked.

If you can't find something on Familysearch like that, its worth checking the parish in the catalogue itself as that will show what is available, whether restricted or, as in this case, they have DGS numbers but the images aren't yet available.

Groom's last link, they are viewable on the web but if you aren't signed in with a free account, they tend to show as if they are restricted.

I think people are missing what I'm saying. The Diss baptism images USED to be on the site (I used them quite a lot) and now they're not.

They were accessible via this entry point;

https://www.familysearch.org/search/image/index#uri=https://familysearch.org/recapi/sord/collection/1416598/waypoints

And Taverham (for example) still has "the full set" available (attached)

Here's a citation from one of my databases;

"England, Norfolk, Parish Registers (County Record Office), 1510-1997," database with images, FamilySearch , Diss > Baptisms, Marriages, Burials > 1729-1778 > image 36 of 80; Record Office, Norwich

This image is no longer accessible (good job I downloaded it...)

I have emailed the NRO to see if they can shed light on this.
