James Gunning
« on: Friday 01 June 18 21:34 BST (UK) »
There was a James Gunning, born 1913 in Newtownards, who, together with his wife Dorrie, was a missionary in Brazil. His parents were James and Huston Gunning(nee Geddes)they married in !909,I don't know if they had other children.I can't get any futher back as James is such a common name.
I'm curious to know if he was related to me in any way.My ancestors had big families so it's possible that he was related.Of course I could be mistaken.
  Any ideas appreciated,thanks

Daughter Maggie was 2 in 1911 census with parents-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Down/Newtownards_Urban/Pound_Street/269815

Did they marry in Scotland? (c1908) if so, marriage certificate will list names of both parents

Gunning Huston of Pound Street Newtownards county Down died 27 September 1941 Administration Belfast 12 March to James Gunning joiner the husband. Effects £10 13s.

Added- unfortunately married in Ireland so mother's name not shown-

This is possibly the family in 1901 which gives you plenty of details to work back through online records to trace the family.
